ACB’s play-by-play man, Bryan Lacey, spoke to ACB 82 headliner, Thiago Silva, about his upcoming fight on M<arch the 9th against Michail Kolobegov and about his move to the middleweight division.
Bryan - You last fight seemed to be a return to Thiago of old with an aggressive and dominant performance - What do you think are the main reasons for this?
Thiago: Finally I found a good place to train. I needed a good place to train with good coaches and training partners and I’ve found that at Mikes Gym (In Holland). I can see myself in a better way - I can work harder and there’s a lot of good fighters and some excellent strikers in the gym and I think that’s the reason. It’s a good place too train and it gives me good motivation and that’s what’s taken me to the next level.
Bryan - For your next fight at ACB 82 you are making the move to Middleweight - What is the reason for this move and what differences can you feel in your body at this weight?
Thiago: I’ve made the move to the middleweight division because I’ve been following a diet programme for a while and my weight has been dropping, I’m loosing fat and I’m getting in better shape everyday so I think it’s better for me to go a division lower. If I can keep the power and the good performances then I think this will be a good move for me. I think I will be trouble for this division and I’m excited to try this move.
Bryan - What dietary and training changes have you made this camp to make the move to Middleweight?
Thiago: I’m working with Darren Deane from England and his company Combat Nutrition. He’s a very smart guy and he’s improving me everyday with his diet and supplement and everything he knows so I’m very excited to see how I’m going to do and I’m sure I’m going to do well at middleweight!
Bryan - What are your thought on your next opponent Kolobegov and where do you see the fight playing out between the two if you?
Thiago: I don’t really care about Michail, I don’t really care about anyone (I fight). I believe in my camp, I believe in my potential and when I’m inside the cage I am just going to do my thing. Whatever you wanted to do you can try to do but I am just going to be me and I am going to get this fight done.
Bryan - How excited are you to fight in Brazil again?
Thiago: I am very excited to fight in Brazil. Sao Paolo is my home town so all my people, my friends they are all there. So for me, it’s going to be very nice to fight there and I’m excited about it.
Bryan - How do you see the fight finishing?
Thiago: I like to fight. My style means I move forward and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to finish him. Standing up or on the floor it doesn’t matter where and it doesn’t matter how - I’ll just keep the pressure!
